Lindsay Accurate Dividers

Lindsay Dividers come with removable, rounded points for easier re-sharpening and precise alignment. These are small and precise dividers made for engravers, and jewelers. 0 to 14mm wide opening.Easily restore points or make new utilizing your own high speed dental type rotary handpiece such as the NSK Presto. In fact you can use your old warn 1/16" dental carbide burs by shaping into a needle point by holding against a diamond bench stone while spinning in your dental rotary handpiece.
Two options - With or without fire scale (black color) left inside the spring. See photo above. This is cosmetic only. Neither way has an effect on the function of the dividers.
The photo above shows a tip regarding the setscrews in the legs. If desired for precise alignment of needle points, you can add a screw to each side of the legs. The point shafts have some clearance in the holes, allowing them to move in and out. By tightening or loosening the opposing setscrews, you can shift the point from side to side within the hole a the distance of the small clearance amount. This method can be used under a microscope for fine adjustments, though it's not necessary for most typical engraving layout tasks.
Another potential alignment issue could be if the point is not centered on the shank. For example, if you’re using a rotary dental handpiece, the accuracy of the collet in the rotary handpiece may cause slight misalignment. If the collet is even slightly off, the point might be ground off-center. To check for this, rotate the point 90 or 180 degrees in the dividers and observe if the point shifts side to side. This issue can also be addressed with the opposing screw method described earlier.
